Hi Andy.

Andy and all of these it could be.
logically one at a time tick them off, but not necessarily in this order.

fuse box - not completed ignition circuit
key fob battery dead - not sending a signal to ECU. the sensor is in the plastic ring around the key hole
you've alarmed it unbeknown to you.
steering lock - seriously, it happens!
youtube has loads of vidoes of various people doing push and hold sequences on your key. It'll be a combination of that and holding the buttons in whilst turning etc.
try also putting it in N and then turning the key...

good luck.

Thanks for replying
I've had a new barrel fitted and ecu
It worked fine for 3 weeks and now has started playing up
If I push the key in and out and lock and unlock the car about 20/30 times it will suddenly turn and start
Also as I'm putting the key in I can hear the steering lock disengage so I would presume that side of it is ok
Also won't let me move gear stick until car has started
Only struggles to turn when vehicle is left for around 5/6 hours
When doing short quick journeys it works ok ( puzzling)

When you're unlocking and locking the car you might be entering a code/sequence for immobilising he vechile.

You're sort of in the same territory as me which is a perfect car all over clever with its locking systems.

Did you get a EKA code with your new barrel and ECU?

If not, then it's on the phone to a dealer who'll look it up (for a fee I supppse and proof of you etc.) to help figure out the procedure.

I'm sure I had this issue with my old p38. Needed a new key and a reprogrammed fob and Ecu and never an issue again.

Replace any link in the chain and all that...
