Turn the ignition on, the ignition warning light does not come on. Start the engine, it runs fine as normal,turn the ignition off, (and now the unusual bit),the ignition warning light comes on. It's a 2.5td 90, it's only happened a couple of hours ago, anyone got any ideas as to whats happened....

Alternator diode pack thing has thrown a wobbly, or faulty ignition switch.

Actually, more than liklely the switch.

Measure the battery voltage with engine off, tickover and fast tickover.

It sounds to me as though the diodes in your alternator are shot!

Turned out to be the alternator,cheers guys.
