Hi guys/girls,

I need some help with my 1986 V8 ignition coil wiring.

Firstly, I do not need a ballast resistor because of my coils rating. So am i correct in staying I "do not" need to feed the white/purple wire from my starters "output" to the coil for cranking?

Secondly where do I get the supply for the coil from? I'm guessing its a white cable as that's the "switched live". But where do I feed the coil from? is it a connection in the dash loom, does any one have a photo?

And last but not least do I feed the internal fuel pump from the coil or in the main loom? also switched live?

Many thanks

hello

i have a problem with my coil as well
did you get any where
tom
what problem ,have you got 12v to + terminal on coil ,has dizzy got points or clear plastic cover under rotor arm , you can put a direct feed from battery or other source ,but dont leave connected when engine isnt been cranked or run otherwise you will bugger coil if left connected for a long period

the wiring on mine is all over the place with some wires that look like they should be connected but are not

have you got a digram by any chance
or even a picture

i belivei have power going there as the old coil got hot very hot changed it for a new one

you need a test light or multimeter (volt meter)etc to test otherwise its all guessing , points or ?

have you got points in dizzy or platic cover meaning its has an amplifier (electronic )it makes a difference not least in coil to be fitted

so you have a black module on side of dizzy with either 2 or 3 wires coming from it one to + side of coil with + ignition feed and one to - side of coil
