that made me laugh :D

on rereading, i sounded way more ****y than i meant :bounce:

Haha, no worries. I need to try and use it more to see what else is going to break, rather than just embarking on a 4k mile expedition.

You've done so much work on it, it's surely going to be tough to sell it on. Now you've had it all apart, doing the body work panel by panel will be a doddle. If you are thinking about getting another one to rebuild, why not stick to this one and do the body work that your not happy with?
Granted, 90's are not great for long distances unless you can take your time.

Its mainly the fact that I want it for expeditions and it isn't quite right for that. Mainly not big enough and no air con.

Though my current thoughts (although I am very changeable at the moment apparently) are maybe keep the defender for laning and messing about in and get a disco 2 for expeditions.

I'm no good at bodywork, I don't have the patience and am not methodical enough!

Like I said before, you need to have the time if you are travelling distances. And have other plans en route. We often go on European road trip camping tours for our summer holidays. Not in the Landy, cos we have three very large sons. This year we are going to Carcassonne then over the Pyrenees to the Aragon region of Spain. Even though we are doing this in a 12 plate Mondeo Estate, we are planning stops and stay overs to visit tourist attractions on the way. So, say if I was planning an expedition in the Alps, I would probably work on something like 4 days visiting places while getting there, 4 or 5 days expedition, 4 days via a different route back to visit other places. I wouldn't be thinking of only expedition, with long, non stop drives there, then back afterwards. The alternatives for places like Portugal or Africa must be very expensive ferry journeys, or hire a vehicle there.

As for the body work, I think it depends on what you want to achieve. If you want to make it show room condition, then you are going to need a lot of patience as you suggest. If you want to repair rot, hold it in check and just keep it looking tidy, then not so arduous.
