Can anyone help me identify the exhaust that’s in the pictures please. It was a NA Diesel now fitted with a 200TDI (previous owner) . Just trying to figure out what to buy new.

I thought 3 flange bolts = turbo D and 2 bolts = TDi. Can't comment on the front section as it may have been modified, dependent on the exhaust manifold.
I would be tempted to use a TDi system if you are replacing the whole lot.
 
TD, It is what I have on my 200 conversion. [ from a Defender ] You can change to a TDi system if you like but mounting brackets are in different places.
 
Some of the brackets listed above were stupidly expensive when I fitted mine, I was able to make my own.
 
As others have said, it's a TD system with a link pipe at the front to connect a front pipe conversion (Steve Parkers or similar). I have an identical setup on my ex TD now 200 TDI.
 
What engine do you have ? Low turbo disco or high turbo defender, If defender probably simpler to stay with the TD system.
 
I'm thinking of staying with the TD but is the TDI version bigger and more suited to the TDI? Questions, questions :rolleyes:
 
I asked the same questions when I converted mine. I already had a newish TD exhaust system on my truck and the 200 came from a total rot box of a Defender [ been putting boats in the sea ] [ bought the whole Landy ] but it had on it a new exhaust system,:confused: so I had the two to compare.
The differences in bore down the system are very minor probably due to the different curves and bends. The only place there was a change was with the tailpipe on the original TD little box which was a bit smaller diameter.
This would be a bit of a restriction but only at the top end of performance.
After driving a clapped out 19j the 200 was heaven anyway. IT was just one less job to do so I stuck with the TD system.
Recently the rear box/tailpipe needed replacement and I was pleased to see its tail pipe was the same diameter as the main system.

TDI bit bigger bore than TD.
The TDI system won't fit without changing some mountings and you may have further issues connecting it to the conversion downpipe. All over comeable though if you have some skills and tools and welder.
TD system will go straight on.
 
Oh, and if your conversion downpipe falls to bits while doing the job and you need to get another one DON'T chuck it! I'm after an old one to copy in stainless:cool:

I believe you have to fit the system and then cut the flange off where the TD down pipe would join (you don't need the TD downpipe, that's what the SP ene replaces)then the sleeve joins the SP downpipe to the(now) flangeless , new system.
I didn't do it that way, I welded the flange off a new TD downpipe to the SP down pipe so when I need a new exhaust complete it just unbolts and refits easy. I suspect that link pipe may be rusted solid to your TD system and/or SP downpipe and be difficult to remove without ruining it.
The SP pipe is, as you may know, in two pieces so you may find it easier to remove the lower half(which could well be also rusted to the top half) so you can work on releasing the link sleeve on the bench.
This could easily snowball into you having to buy a new SP downpipe if you aren't lucky.
They aren't cheap so go carefully.

No. The pipes are the same size, and don't flow any more gas. It isn't critical on an engine of that type anyway.
Just use the TD system, and find or make a pipe to join the turbocharger to the front flange of the big silencer.
