i reckon an immobilising option is not a good idea...

if you know where the vehicle is and where its going, leave it at that, you'll always know where they'll be.

if an option to imobilise the vehicle is introduced they are more likely to set fire to it if they can't get it going....
if they think they got away with it, you can probably track it down to where they have parked it

i agree with imobilising when nicked. but its good to be able to imobilise/isolate on a night while parked up just by sending txt to unit,,hey ryder will i still be able to track my unit via the website if your changing to long and lat.i prefer the web option budy

+1 on the selective immobilising and also anti jamming as Gasdav mentioned but let it trigger an alert or react in some way as soon as it loses GPS signal.

Maybe something like if it loses GPS, it texts you (accepting they may jam GSM too) but also, it triggers an ignition kill for the next time the truck is switched off). At least this way if it's just genuine crap GPS reception and the legit owner is driving the truck, then they can override it. If a scrote has nicked it they'll be stuck where they stop for a while at least :)

As the majority of the jammers need 12v power, a microswitch on the doors when the unit is 'armed' and then as a reaction to that, perhaps isolate the ignition and the 12v power socket too :)

God knows what that does to the pricing but I reckon its gotta be below £300 without annual subscription charge to compete

this sounds good in princpile but i think that it would fast become tired. the system needs to operate with little or no human intervention...isolating on lost gps would be a real pain and somewhat pointless.

If the unit is armed then we assume that the owner is not driving it. under such circumstances we would trigger the isolator in any case....

sorry about bad typing... hands are bad and i can only use 2 fingers atm
