The uk mains is a lot higher than 1 to 1.5 bar most mains is about 3 to 5 bar often with a pressure reduction valve, at 1 bar all these megaflow systems and combi boilers would not work very well at all, i have seen over 10bar blow me gauge of the tap. That's a heck of a lot of pressure. 1 to 1.5 bar is normal in the UK at your kitchen tap. Peeps who buy their white goods in the UK and then plumb them in in France sometimes have problems as, if there is no pressure reducer fitted from the main, it does them no good. It can be up to 7 bar here.
When we first moved in we had no electric and the water pipes all just came out of the floors or the walls, not capped at all, so to fill the loo and/or flush it, I fitted a watering hose to the main at the meter. When I triggered it it was like a fire hose!!
Plus the last thing you want to be doing is wasting it.
