Would it not be easier/cheaper to just buy a whole bog and cistern of whats available? and a dam sight less hassle;)

You are only going to spend 6 days getting it right after breaking 1 probably;).

Even if they are not 2 a penny there, use a side exit and run a flexi braided pipe up?

J
I realise fully that I'll probably have to buy a whole new one and do exactly what you have just said. I was hoping that the mounting holes would be to a standard but @Ian M in France has just shot holes in that rather optimistic theory.
I would only have been drilling the hole for the watter if the rest fit, if it doesn't then no won't be wasting my time on it.
The pipe will either have to come up to the side that is visible as it is room side, cos that is where the water pipe is, or run across under the back of the bog then up the wall side.
I'll sort it, it is just a matter of trying to find the solution that matches simplicity with aesthetic values and don't cost too much.

This is exactly my problem, I have made a drawing of the holes on the bottom to take with me when I go around places to look for a new one. Do you have any particular places you recommend I visit first?

Thanks for this info.
I kinda suspected it wouldn't be that straighforward.
I always leave sufficient heating on in the place to obviate the frozen water situation and it has worked so far.
I also always turn the water off. But from now on, just in case I'll flush all loos too before we go!
Cheers
Stan
All the big DIY places are good as they have many on show you also need to think about where the holes are in relation to the back of cistern

I would only question the red wine glass size, We have some big enough so you dont have anything left in a normal bottle if served for 2 .

We also have those tight wine glasses that go around 6 per bottle, but we dont use those much;).

I'm tempted to say "to taste" but we generally read it as being whatever 1/5th of 75 ccs is. so 150 mls. As this is the standard wine glass I believe.
I have just googled it and found some real rubbish on sites that purport to know it all. When in the trade we always used to say you got 6 glasses to a bottle, and this is what the trade sees as a "small" glass (125 ml) but glass sizes seem to have risen over the years. Of course some glasses hold nearly a bottle.
So you could start with 125 ml and put more in if you feel like it.
Hope you enjoy it.:):):)

all our bogs stand away from the wall as they have no mounting holes on them to screw them to the wall. They rely totally on the two bolts holding the cistern to the pan.
So I'm off to Bricomarché, CCL, maybe M. Bricolage and Brico Depot tomorrow, Oh and maybe Chausson.
Cheers mate!

One last thing on this bog situation.
@Ian M in France has got me thinking.
I just looked at the soil pipe in the bog and even if I wanted to, I couldn't mount the cistern that came with the bog, just like all the others, on the wall as said pipe is too far into the room. Unless maybe they expected us to use loos with vertical soil pipe outlets.
Things you never dream of considering.......

Sleep well all!:):):)

Morning All. :D
Sore neck after my night away from my own bed and the 300 miles of M-Way driving. :(
Some physio exercises required later today I think. After my blood test.
My lad has suddenly after 8 years in the place managed to partially block his soil-pipe in the main bathroom.
Allegedly, the "fall" on the outlet from the bog isn't steep enough and there's a build up of "stuff". It is causing foul gas to get back up through the toilet's "trap". Guess who is nominated to try and help fix things?
Yes, that's right. :(
Have a good day. :D
