Any one on here?

the usual gaylander problem then ;)

Looks like a dry day for us and not too cold but the winds strong. Good opportunity to investigate me gearbox fault so I will be outside for a bit. May also give it it's first wash of the year to if I get time. Not washed it since November. I will leave me jet washer out for you to wash yer tratters.

Have been doing some electrical fault finding this afternoon. Found the cause of me intermittent front wind screen wiper fail. It's the ignition switch starting to fail. It caused the wiper to fail when turning them on to the intermittent setting. You would hear the click of the relay but the wiper wouldn't move. When it was time for the next pulse of the relay the wipers would then work, and there after. The voltage on the fuse measured 13.45 volts with the engine running which is a good indication one of the ignition switch contacts is starting to fail. Other fuses were at 14.21volts. So the wiper bit of the ignition switch (shared with other stuff) had a failing contact.

Unfortunately after cleaning up the ignition switch I put it back together and all was ok except the engine wouldn't start. So I cleaned the ignition switch again and all is ok again and it will now start. I will order a new ignition switch tomorrow.

its always good to find and fix a fault, as for the jet wash? whats that
Freelanders have jets of water which squirt up at the windscreen so you can clean the windscreen betterer with the wipers. Save yer having to get out. Think of it as being a bit like the draft from yer doors only it's made of water. ;)

Strange, can I retro fit them to mine?
Yes. you will need to drill 2 holes in yer bonnet and fit the jets. Then run a hose from the inside of the bonnet from the jet to a water tank. Plug the hose into the in tank pump. Power the pump via a switch using yer electrics. I assume you have electrics? Now poke a needle in the jet to get the angle right. Remove needle and turn on the electrics and watch in amazement when you press the switch. If yer dun't have electric you can put a water bottle in the back and tip it's contents on the screen as required. ;)

With all this rain I was wondering if yer roof leaks were greater than normal? It's good testing weather to prove me doors dun't fall oft. ;)

I'm happy with a paint brush, that looks far too arty

as for roof leaks, I dont have a sunroof! it only leaks through the tops of the doors, between the windows and the rear door, unless im driving; then big puddles/floods etc leak through the floor and transmission tunnel.

I had a similar problem last year with leaks through the floor. I didn't screw down me metal fool tank inspection lid and went through some puddles at speed and water jumped up and pushed the cover up and got inside. Made ma hippo smell of cabbages until I'd finished drying the carpets out. Have learnt my lesson on that one. Cover screwed down now. Had to remove the seats and lift the carpet to mop the water out then used some fans on cool blow only with a dehumidifier to dry it out.
