15th of what ?

And which 'equi' ?
15th of September i thought was the autumnal equinox, I'll just have a quick check...apparently I thort wrong and it is closer to the 22nd or 23rd.
My bad.
Makes sense as the sameish dates of the months of December and June are the two solstices.
So I have no idea at all where I got the idea of the 15th from.

Prop the wobbly extentions up with books and other stuff, it'll be reet
I did try that and thought I had got it with disconnecting the phone and using that, as one of the plugs was low to a table top, but no, not only was the adaptor wobbly in the socket, as if the holes were a fraction bigger, but the socket itself moved slightly in the vertical plane as if to make the adaptor fall out under gravity. So you would have thought that propping it up would have done the trick. But no, it also had some sort of a spring mechanism that pushed it outwards just enough to disconnect it even with the pins in the holes. Yet the kettle plug from their kettle stayed in.
I guess the tight fisted "£$%s decided that doing this would stop people using them to charge laptops or, indeed, as we wanted to, from running their coolboxes. I have a feeling that if ours had proper french plugs on they might have worked better.

Still teaching the G-dottir simple sums. She is one messed-up kid. :(
Can't add single numbers in her head has to use her hands or counters.
Bought her an A1 sized "Times Tables" chart. Got her to sit there and go through them.
Then asked her to tell me her 3 time table. Can't, and she got distressed.
Told me she failed times tables today at school. :(
I don't understand why neither of her parents have not already begun fixing this as her school reports clearly indicate she is failing in numeracy.
I bet that times tables chart frightened her stiff. Poor thing.
I still remember learning mine.
Of course in my day it was the whole class chanting them.
But still enjoyed the simplicity of the 5 times table and the fun of the 9 times table and how easy it was to rmember that each time the first figure grew by one, the second shrunk by one and both added together made 9.
Until you got to eleven times nine although a pattern emerged beyond there!

Did you say that she suffered from dyscalculia? Can't remember, sorry. Whatever, I feel for her,:( as I do, a bit. I too struggle to do mental arithmetic. I wonder if it is inherited to some extent as dyslexia is?
I often saw my mum drumming her fingers on her cheek, or her arm, or a table (i.e. using them to add up or whatever, as she was doing some sum in her head, and my dad was not good at maths at all.

Had a good day today.
Emptied one vehicle and got it off the trailer, had a long convo with the new neighbours and it turns out they are great.
We already have a date for getting them over for a meal, they have already sussed the nasty neighbours, and the husband started work as a welder/fabricator so will show me how to set up my welder one fine day! He also offered to give me a lift with that worktop and other stuff should the need arise. (He works for Sunseeker now and the tales he tells would make your hair stand on end, about how they are being forced to employ the unemployable yoof, with no experience or tools. He had to work really hard to persuade one lad that a Vernier was not an adjustable spanner. In the end he had to tell him that if he put it across a nut and tried to turn it he'd get a clout. )
So this seems to be the year for finding new, decent and helpful neighbours. Had a celebratory drink afore dins! :):):)

Forgot to mention that a LZ member saw us driving up the ramp and into the ferry but was unable to find the vehicle again. So we shared a rough ferry crossing without actually meeting.
That would have been the first time I would have met a member in the flesh.
He also had experienced the awful driving weather.
Small world.:)
