My old neighbour who's moved to Yorkshire recently, have bamboo at the rear and jungle at the front. No chance of weeds growing. The new African neighbour has by looks, no interest cutting the lawn either.😟

Cool, ok so D3 2.7 for sale needs an engine, or rebuild the original if its worth it. I dont know anything about them.
Need to know a rough idea how long it takes & the costs or any other work that would need doing whilst its pulled apart. :)
Have a read of @tyregeezer s fred https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/discovery-3-engine-re-build.381685/

Loads of info and Gary has been active.

Not a car I would take on tbh, but there are good 1s (Gary has 1) and I suppose we rarely hear the good stories on a forum of "help fix my car"
But as yours will probably be free its a good deal :p.

Good luck but it wont be a cheap car to get right.

Afternoon folks :).

It blooming ot ere, good job we have a big hole in the garden with cool water in it:p.

Few odd jobs done but nothing of note really, so gonna gear up for inside work again as this heat seems to be in for the rest of the summer:).
Might even sneak in the garage project a bit as its cool in there;).

Be on the lookout for 'orses dropping in for a dip :p
Luckily we don't have orses in our paddock anymore/at this time, But I did have to fit an extra catch to the gate as they used to rub against it and it would open ( it was the gate that the food came through;)), the ****land got in once and was walking around the pool munching the lush grass.
Don't actually think they would go in voluntarily, never had a cat in it they just sit on the edge and lap the water, dog used to run up and down if we were in it swimming. He learnt early he couldn't run on water when we first got him:oops:.

His first time here when M collected him and she let him into the back garden, the summer cover was on and he didn't know what a pool was. He ran across the cover  but got across it till he got to the edge on the other side and his back end dipped in the water, he scrambled out, but never went near it again:).

Hiya

So for a recon engine ur looking around 5k , unless ur able to rebuild ur self ,alas if the crank has snapped in the old engine it will be 9/10 ruin the block won’t now until the block has been stripped and inspected

@tyregeezer is an expert on engine rebuilds and would be able to advise better than myself

At he end of the day when engines fail it will normally write the D3 off , many break them to try and recoup some of the money in going towards another vehicle

Hope that helps

Hiya

Funny enough just tagged @tyregeezer as he’s been doing a sterling job on rebuilding engines, very impressive

Bless u and indeed spent endless hours getting mine into a great condition both mechanically and bodywork wise

Must confess asked myself oh crap what have I done after buying my D3 but once reading up along with help from others things like the suspension became a lot easier to understand

At the end of the day found it very worthwhile the amount of hours I’ve spent on it due to the sheer sublime comfort down motorways , was also impressed in how it doesn’t lean side to side whilst driving through doh try lanes

At the end of the day think u would require very deep pockets if unable to do any spannering urself

if keeping long term, diagnostics, multimeter and decent battery charger like a CTEK are a must

Hope that also helps

Also done a D3 buyers guide which hopefully is useful

As @gstuart says (just an enthusiastic amateur but thanks mate) most cranksnaps are terminal sometimes heads too, arguably best way probably cheapest too is to buy an stype one you can hear running and do the switch yourself, you don't have to take body off unless you have a ramp of course DIY is the key good luck mate also helps if you love D3 or D4 just bought D4 with a broken crank already prepping a xf bottom end

How often does yer cut yer grass? Gardening man at wuk said more regular cutting makes it grow sideways instead of up. So yer get ficker grass. More shoots. Said to also help keep weeds oot. Some of my weeds are quite small so eye need to keep pulling their leefs oft to strave them. Eye was growing mine long as that was an idea on youtube to kill oft the moss due to no sunlight. It turned the bottom ov me grass to hay colour. Coming back green burrits taking some time.
2 times a week thickens the sawed up and when it rains a good dose of urea N 46
