Huh! So much for a "mobile welder"
I'm going to have to get it over to him, in Hamworthy, he can only do it tomorrow as he is so busy. Still busyness is a good sign.

We had a very much better look at it and it is a lot worse than I had realised. i.e. perforation has deffo taken place!

So much for Disco 2s not rusting in the body.
And he pointed out to me a really awkward place just north of the rusty patch on the offside where there is the mother of a lot of dismantling to do, Servo out, huge thick bit of loom going through to the fusebox behind etc, if I want to catch that rust and avoid the fail next year.

Dunno if he was just touting for repeat business but it seems like he doesn't need to tout for it really.
Cross that bridge later on this year when there will be less pressure.

As wifey is not in best condition to drive, Leave it there and get a taxi/train/bus ome?
Or load up the trailer and drive ome in the pug or is it a lemon?

Get it done, France time will be upon you in no time at all. Cut out the stress and spend your money.

Afternoon folks :).

Not wet here but has been very misty last couple of mornings.

Went on a friend help call yesterday, a leaky hot water tank, Tanks here are mains pressure with the heating element from the bottom. Get there and yep that's the seal that's leaking. She says well I have a new tank🤔 (nope not fitting that I finks).
Let me look yep same seal so steal the new 1 and fit to old tank. Getting an oval "thing" out of an oval hole with a heating element sacrificial stick and a thermostat tube is like one of them Chinese wire puzzle things:).
All sealed and leak free. There the story may end.............oh no, you are gonna love this bit;).

When she phoned I told her to just switch it off as the electrics are in the bottom where the leak is.
So I ask if its switched off "yes" points to a big cooker type switch on the wall outside the bathroom (yep I think good switch and its off:oops:)
Working on the seal I got a belt (swear here why I had forgot to bring my meter). Got it all back together and leak free without another belt.
It didnt seem to switch on right, so I said "leave it off it maybe a wet switch, I have an old spare good 1, be back tomorrow".

So today armed with a switch from that box of "why do I keep this stuff"🤔 And my meter.
2mins later found out the water in the tank is hot:oops: the feed in is live (although off) the big off switch was goosed and had been Bulgariarend. The 2 blue and browns had been connected together in the switch connections because the switch was broke "but I can make it work says the sheep man, and the guy I met says he can do it"🤔.
Check the main fuse box and found the 1 that turns it off (none are labeled) told her get a new switch I will fit it.

We might get eggs and a Lamb out of my good deed:)

Moral is even a water leak needs a DMM and don't trust nobody:p:vb-confused2::vb-groan2:.

I can smell fresh bread rolls cooking see you all later:).

Afternoon all spent the morning drilling holes in 5mm stainless plates, sky is dark n orrible snot raining atm.
Gawd I hate drilling into stainless. I had a fancy headlight bar made out of it once with boxes under where the P80 headlights were to be mounted. I needed to drill biggish holes through the boxes, chickened out and went around the industrial estate looking for soemone who'd do it. It was for a 1930s roadster kit car. In one place there was a pic of a rod in the reception, the guy and I got nattering and he had his blokes do it for me while we nattered. Cost? "Cakes for the lads" Brill!!!

I'm sure that with decent drill bits and lubricant it's OK, I was just unlucky once.:(
