Is it just me or are all the big nobs on the Nooker falling by the wayside?

Been watching it a bit but not too closely. (W not into it.)
I've even heard the talking heads mentioning the table as a problem!
Tuff to stay at the top. Pockets are bouncing hard hit balls but thats normal. Tables never new. They're known working used ones for the event. Some balls have rattled but if hit slower they would have stood a betterer chance of going in. Some players have missed easy shots. Ronnie miss que'd a pink and missed it. Some years its like this.

I am in "shopaholic mode"............ spending like there's no tomorrow. Eek!
New Machifit AXA quick-change toolpost (£120), 3 tool holders (all they had in stock) £30.
Set of seven 12mmm carbide insert tools £44.
2 New drive belts £15.
Lathe isn't even operational yet (motor rework), but there's loads more to go yet.
I want to remote all the controls off the VFD into a panel mounted set of switches somewhere on the lathe so it is easy and safe to use. None of the original controls (dewhurst switch, on/off, main breaker etc.) will be required.
I made some for my two lathes and this one for a mate.

Postie just delivered my noo sidelight lens, nice!
Shopping came with specially ordered shortbread as W "couldn't find any" when shopping for Crimble.
Nice!
Weather high pressure gloom, I assoom!
Dogs all akip. Old'un doing OK and slowly doing more or trying to. She just tried to jump up onto the sofa but didn't make it, so I have put her up there.
All very quiet.
Have a nice one folks!

Well, I didn't ask where they were from - Lady Susan Hussey got into lot of trouble for that. But I'm guessing they were local talent as from what I could overhear they had broad Leicester accents. The slightly sad thing was that they didn't look like 'hard men'. No sign of the steroid physique or the face like a nightclub bouncer tasting a wasp. They were rather slightly built but with pot bellies. Is that the best we can do for villains nowadays? Maybe we really do need some fresh talent from overseas. Mind you, you don't need to put in the thousands of hours weight training and sparring if you're simply going to stick a knife in someone, which seems to be the preferred method of dispute resolution these days.
Been shown on police programs where they claim to be unwell as a delay tactic. Not all of them will be playing the system. Some will br legit. It stops the custody clock. Restarts when thry're considered ok. Cops have mentionned its a known way to mess them about after an arrest.

I think they service and recover the tables for competitions, it wouldn't be fair if they didn't and the "heads" seemed to think it might be something to do with the nap on the new cloths as some of the balls didn't seem to be rolling as far as the players seemed to expect. Makes sense. A bit like how before Wimbledon they employ "light footed ladies" to play on all the courts so sort of "play them in".
I've never played on a match table so I have never experienced one, but at my level it would make flip all difference!!!🤣🤣🤣

There's youtube vid's of them putting them together. Watched them before to get ideas to build mine. Eye fink match tables have a faster cloth. Some tournaments they complain its too fast. Others the balls curve in certain places at slow speeds. If theres problems the commentators normally spot it and keep mentioning it. Wiv there being loads if tournaments around the world, players are sometimes wored oot if they're back to back in different time zones.

When eye were a nipper eye liked saveloy and chips from the chippy. Has been on me mind all week. Me air fryer would gerrup set if eye went to the chippy. While in sainsberrys this week eye looked to see if they sell them. Couldn't see anyfink by the raw sossij bit. Looked on the web and they stock them. Found int cooked meet section. Lorra fat and saturated fat which is a shame. Rare occasions only then. Got some and they taste just as eye remember years ago.

I'm a bit jealous of you as I too would like to have a snooker table. I used to really like playing but the mates I used to play with have all moved away or gone on to other things and I have been too busy lately to bother my backside to find a club. Nextdoor does mention them though. If I was here all year round I probably would.
How is yours coming along by the way?
And yes although not a hugely physically active sport it must be tiring maintaining that level of concentration for long periods.
Still love watching it though. Teh only sport I bother to watch, don't even watch rallying any more.

W just reading her London Transport pensioners' newsletter. It's a little mag really. She has just discovered they have a flying club and she could learn to fly for not much money at all!
Grrr! Jealous!

And as my bro drove buses for them for years he could do this too, don't know why he hasn't I'll have to ask him!
So that two fits of jealousy today.
Not good for my soul!!.:(:(:(

Well just getting geared up for the weekly exercise session in the wood pile;) I.E load the trailer with next weeks wood and stack it in the rear porch, about 1 cube.

I have got as far as looking to see how straight wood is at wix and b&q. That is it. Wix was bent in both directions and the pile doesn't drop so no peeps buying it. B&q are flogging 50 sheets a week. When they have about 98 theres a fresh pile. They sit theirs ont floor on 4 wooden strips. Only the botton ones bend a bit. I assume when they forky picks them up. Wix is on a 2 bar shelf so they bend in storage.

Eye us buildering an 8x4 nooker table on top of a 6x2.5 foot table. So the ends will over hang by a foot. Plus another foot when it slides. How to keep the main table sheet of mdf flat is a problem. Eye has come up wiv the idear of supports holding it up, hinged on the 6 foot ends. And thats it so far. Just finking.
