Re the kids and best friends the restraining order needs extending sadly, the breaking in was breaking and entry plus prolly threatening behaviour. Police must know about this and they should have "had a word" at the very least. It sounds as if it has got to the point where the grandaughter needs to be living in a refuge, with the kids. But that would leave the house and belongings vulnerable. Unless she can put the stuff into storage, which of course costs money.
None of this is easy.

Had police round today to report everything and they are compiling evidence for an arrest for not keeping to restraining order.
I have a mind to mention that he drives home from the pub every night after a session but I'm not that sort of person

No? Why not? He could hurt someone else.
They'd still have to catch him doing it, so it wouldn't be right down to you, if you are bothered about it.
But hope this situation gets a bit more resolved soon.;)

You have every reason to be that sort of person..... in this specific instance. You are protecting your own mate. :)
