That's what I like about roofs in Scotland. They're boarded over before things like felt, battens and tiles go on. It seems to me to make a much better job.
I guess with the precipitation/strong winds they get it's pretty much essential.
They are called "voliges" in Frogland and are a good idea where there can be strong winds. We were advised by a neighbour who didn't get them fitted to his new house. (He had tiles blown off, as well as the plastic constantly banging around.)
So we gottum and have never regretted it! ;)

I seem to remember us having had a chat about this before. Pit or using the ramps in some unit you use, if I remember correckly.
Mind, even a lift that doesn't go all the way up can be useful. I'd fit one in my ornery garage as I could then store 2 kit cars in the normal space for one car, and could work on a car if I was prepared to sit or kneel. Which i would be. ;)
