I've been quite impressed at the penetrative power of death watch beetle. I lived in a house once where we used to hear the tell-tale tapping, and the bathroom floor got bouncier and bouncier. Eventually, fearing that the bath would fall through into the kitchen below when it was full of water, I took down some of the plaster in the ceiling below and discovered the joists had been reduced to something resembling Swiss cheese and the wood had been transformed into a fine brown dust. It was an old house and the timbers had been some sort of local hardwood, possibly elm. The floorboards were more recent - probably Victorian, and were made from softwood. The death watch beetle had completely ignored them and exclusively eaten the elm. I cleaned up the mess and jacked some modern softwood timbers into position, which served us well until we left that particular house.

That got that name back when if you had a death in the family it was custom to lay the deceased out in the parler and as the house was quiet du to respect for the dead you could hear them communicating from beam to beam by knocking or tapping.the sound does travel and resonates through the beams

So you hover your mouse over a name and it gives a few more details including a "reaction score".
We can also insert a table! I'll be going for a three piece suite!
all good stuff.
Hmm!
Have yet to see if LZ live has been restored but it shows what they were up to when they were off today!;););)
