My problem is nothing to do with the actual lens or type - If I move the frame to angle the whole thing up or down then I can either see the distance well or the near well but not both - get the angle of the frame to the face right them everything works as it should. Getting someone with experience to get the frame accurately angled to the face seems to be problem.
If they do get the centres wrong then there is only one way to correct that and that is to re-measure and have another set of lens made - the person who made the error is then not popular with the boss as that reduces the profit margin!
The blurring that you talk of is all to do with the curvature of the correction, as you say, it is much like curved car mirrors. I can't draw on a computer so am unable to explaind how the 'channels' work but safe to say that the top lens makers who do these special thinned lens so you don't get that blurring effect, do charge a lot for each lens. It is for this reason that my optician only charges me for the new lens' and puts them into the 'old' frames, £200 each lens each year is more than enough to keep paying.:)
My last set was 500 sovs fer test, frame and one set ov lenses. Ain't been fer many years. It was boots. They have several lens suppliers and admitted they were going to use another as the first applied a tint to the lens for the nite driving fing, that eye din't like. They have problems measuring me eyes so we sometimes have a few goes. But this was the first time the second go was free. Eye witnessed an old lady being told to buy a second pair as she couldn't use a phooter at screen distance when looking up, with paperwork in front ov the keyboard. Eye suspect the same person made the same mistake with her. When being asked questions eye kept saying eye just wanted plastic clear lenses. Never had as much trouble as this when it was donnald & wotsit. A different optician discussed the tint as normal and others dunt complain. Reception helper in the background gave the game away. Said it were the nite vusion fing. Eye had already looked that up and the advertising dunt mention yella lenses.

The temperature is now on the rise and there has been no negative temps overnight - everything has returned to green although there is still some lying frozen snow on the ground which is waiting for an even greater rise in temp. - up to 4 degrees now and still rising.:)

It's true.. many folks are less tolerant of others, in a permanent state of anger/aggression and don't give a frig about anything
I find that a lot of it is young men who seem to have played too much "Call of Duty" and have therefore become really "hard men" (well, in their heads they are). :(
I am often an aggressive driver when confronted with dullards that do not know the difference between a "give-way" and a "stop" sign and a clear junction. :)
