That would be the ideal situation but from another thread we know that prolly can't happen, sadly.:(:(:(
Edit, didn't realise his pension pot could be used in that way, well if the return will be better then OK.
But having been a landlord I know how much it costs for upkeep etc etc.
Still if the worst comes to the worst, can always sell it again, prolly for a profit.

From his post I understood that it was for his daughter to rent, so that could be the best solution.

I understood that, as I read it too. But the father /daughter relationship will then have the added layer of tenant/landlord. Which could lead to difficulties.:(:(
And eventually she may wish to move out.
I'd hate to see it damage their relationship.
(It's none of my business so I'll stay shtum now.) ;)

To be honest Stan, she could live there rent free and I would still make a profit when she moved on. My pension pot was all converted to investments when I turned 55 so I can do what I like with it. I would of course have to pay tax if I remove it so it probably won't happen!

Afternoon folks:).

Have not really done much but did drain down the annex and outside taps today, cos winters coming:eek:. Not been that bad temp wise to be honest but has been very overcast and dreary so not been doing too well with the free squiggles:(.
Just kicked the fire into action for today. Waiting on the homemade Pea an am soup to go with the planned fick crusty bread slices.
Oh an none of that mamby pamby stuff will be spread on them it will be proper butter:D.

If its giving a return (a pension) its not an easy choice. Some Investments aren't doing well at the moment, some of ours I don't look at:( but they be longer term;).
But we do basically live on our rentals, so it's a tossup as to what's best.
As for the Tax. Which to me is the most annoying bit when it's your money that you earned and saved, which had tax paid on it at the time;), you now get penalized for looking after yourself:mad:. to me that's called "double dipping".

I would have a quick word with a finance bod as there maybe some offsets and even if you paid tax 1 year you may get it some back next year as a loss;).

We have just done our wills and not to get into too much detail, on our fatal days the properties go into a trust fund (can be setup at anytime) yes tax is paid at this point but if the beneficiaries keep it in the same then their tax situation can be minimized and it can also be kept out of any future family disputes, I.E divorce.
So dont kick the idea into touch in 1 thought:). But in the same respect don't leave yourself short of the rainy day fund:D.

You never know when that P38 will come available again:p:D:D:D.

Thats was long winded and far to technical this time of the day, I am off for some Pea n am:D.

What temp does peeps set their heating too at nite? Or does yer switch it oft? Mine is set to 13 degrees C at nite at the moment.
Mine is on from 7.30 am until 10pm daily - there is nothing overnight but the bungalow is well insulated and does not really lose much heat even when it is very cold at night. I filled up my oil tank last April and it is still half full so should not need re-filling until March/April.
