The most useful, most used and longest lived tools I bought with my own money (as opposed to things that fell off a shelf at work etc), are a socket set (brand unknown and made in Japan) and a Norbar torque wrench. All still in perfect working condition after nearly 50 years of use. I have a natural tendency to over tighten nuts n bolts and expanded my torque wrench collection over the years, to cover an ever widening range of requirement.
