Cos I came in to plug the Foxwell into the lappy and look at the data, then post it on the other thread to see what sierrfaery says. and also to thank all those who helped,
and to have a cup of coffee.
and the charity shop and the dump would have been closed anyway.
then herself turned up all keen to get dins on as she has an international zoom meeting on!
Which she is now doing.:):)

Here is a feckin good way of cooking steak au poivre, which is a bit of a faff,

but as she prolly already has the pepper sauce anyway, easier just to cook the steaks, making sure there is brown stuff off the meat, (caramelised sugars to get technical), take the steaks out let em sit while chucking some brandy into the pan, flambé if you wish, you don't have to, but stir it around to lift the brown off the bottom of the pan (deglaze), then pour in the sauce, stir it around to absorb the meat and pepper flavours, and to heat it up, obvs. you can add more brandy if you like!. If you really like pepper flavour then crush some whole peppercorns and coat one side of each steak with it. then cook as normal.

I once took a girlfriend to dinner at a posh place, The Manor at Castle Combe. As luck would have it I had a stinking cold so this is what I had in order to be able to taste something.
It cost me more than a week's wages but the Romeo and Julietta seegar lasted me all the way through coffee, and the drive back to Bath and some way into the coffee after we got back!

I think I was earning £10 a week and the meal came to about £12. Posh country house hotel, a competitor to the place I was working in. 1973.

The place I was working at has come on leaps and bounds, prices much the same but wider choice.
