I like desert boots or deck / boatshoes, but the latter are better in the summer. Both go with jeans or Chinos.

And when oop norf inna winter I wear hiking boots tied loose so I can drive in em cos the Dales is kinda wet and rugged, too much so for street shoes.
Plain brown boatshoes/moccasins look good with smart casual clothes.
