@landowner if it's just the key board that is busted, then, as i had the same prob, one solution is to buy a separate keyboard that plugs into a USB socket and then uninstall the original keyboard.
That is what I am typing on now.
Better than nuffin!;)

Can't fire it up, managed to get in basic start up and save some data but then it crashed, need something better anyway so looking at replacing it with something.

Wow that was a serious spill then.
Maybe you can find a way of drying it out. Even just to save the hard drive.
Others on here will know more n me how to do it.
Commiserations mate.:(:(:(

Girlfriend is going to buy me a car and a lap top or l pad so happy days
Need a car with tow bar, reliable and decent looking for about 3k, any suggestions ??
You are posting to the wrong guy here!
I have only once, jointly, spent more than £3k on a car. Totally dedicated banger motorist me.
That more expensive purchase was out D1 anniversary bought in 2004, at 6 yrs old and we took out a bank loan.:eek::eek::eek:

My other two discos cost £2150 and £1250.
but for that money you should be able to get a decent D1 or a D2 or a Freeloader.
But don't tell anyone i said so, and I take the 5th on the "reliable" part of that.
Decent looking?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!;););)

Buy something like this,

linky

take the HDD out of the laptop and fit it to the previously purchased disk enclosure.
Use old disk as an external drive, this way you can recover anything from it... as long as your spillage wasn't biblical.

My 26 year old zx estate may have to go, no towbar and l can't get one. Don't want to ruin it by fitting a home made one

... that perhaps I have damaged myself with all the scaffold-tower climbing, painting etc. etc. :(
My neck is very sore & stiff and makes a gristly grinding noise as I turn my head left/right. My shoulders too are sore and my back feels like it is going to go into "spasm" at any moment. :(
Feck! Feck! Feck!
I have far too much to do for this sort of nonsense to be happening. :(
Grinding could be a failed bearing
