and also we both had the the same first cars.
I bought a white mini with a black roof and 850 "de luxe" then it was obvs going to fail its MOT on rust so bought another.
the engine in the first one had been tuned so I swapped loads of bits over to the second one and painted it as described above.
It was great until i wrapped it around a tree!!
And thus began my "career" working on and with cars!!
Didn't go back to Minis until I bought the last one a few years back stuck the MG metro engine in it. It went like feck but was just too uncomfortable and, surprise surprise, needed welding too much, so after a few years i just couldn't be fecked any more.
sold it for more than i paid for it and could have sold it for even more if i'd hung on.
Still have a quiet little hankering for one. But I keep lying down until I feel better.
I can go to bed now!!!!!
