Are they Damsons? The trees round the reservoir are laden with them but they need to double in size. Assume the hot dry weather has not helped the fruit.

No these are sloes for making sloe gin
These are next to the river so never short of water
No damson/plum trees round these lakes I walk.there are the odd hidden apple tree off the paths.
