Cut the final granite slab and bedded it in and declared the noo terrace work finished :D. But got some more to do to extend it up the side of the house to the back of the garage (or as far as it will go when the slabs are all used up). But that will be at some unspecified time in the future - got a long list of other jobs to do (and not all for me, family jobs list is a long one too).

Well, that didn't take long...... chain is broken and we start again :(
:(:(:(
Don't despair, this is a very frequent happening especially at this time when everyone was scrambling to put their name down to anything just to stop others from getting a look in. The stopping of the Stamp Duty concession is going to further complicate issues in the short term. I reckon there will be a lot of 'under offer' property returning to the market very soon.
What does your EA say about the break?

He has others lined up to view it, mine will sell it is just we will have to give up the one we want if we end up in a chain of more than 2. That was the reason we got the one we offered on as we only had our buyer and the new property.
It was under offer very quickly last time so I have no doubts that it will go again just as quickly. The house sale/buying thing is a total nightmare but don't let it get to you even though you were hoping for a quick sale.:)

There are other reasons (that I won't put on a forum) why we need to move quickly. In a nutshell, if we haven't moved by October, it will no longer be advisable to move.

Talk to your agent and ask them to only take firm offers from someone who is able to move within two months. It is up to the agent then to sift out the viewers and their situations. It might mean that even after having had an offer made on it, the agent will not take it off the market. This does NOT mean gazumping in price, it is the way the agent is working to get you the best buyer within the time constraints.:)
