You need to keep up Stanley otherwise you will get left behind:)

Its all about Energy Performance these days.

And as for buy back.
Well it works like this. We give a builder Our money to build a huge Hotel/Flats whatever. we basically own a room /flat. he dont borrow money from a bank at stupid % and would end up keeping some for himself, But he also tells us that in 5yrs he promises to buy it back at xxx price up front. So in the 5 years we have received a decent return in the rental (as its a %of investment) and now we can cash in our money with a heath increase in the initial investment (yes more than leaving it in a bank).

But of course it means that we need to make a choice, do we want the hassle of getting another, or leave it, or get another private house to rent.:D cos I do enjoy being a slum landlord:D:D:D:D. But I hate having to make a decsion on spending more money than the price of a beer:eek::)

Dangnab it! I've just been caught up, i love being left behind, cos then I can catch up in a rush and knock peeps over!

OK, get the investment in property thing.
All we ever did was hang onto one house and rent it out, then eventually sell it. We got a profit after a while as the mortgage payments dropped due to the mortgage rate dropping.
But the work and angst involved in dealing with tenants was not something I would want to do again, especially as we aren't even in the country half the time!
Nice that you are in the position to have the choices!
Best of luck with it!
Peeps always need somewhere to live, thankfully!!!

Nope don't deal with tenants, don't even know what a couple of the properties even look like. No mortgage's now so only agency fees and we seem to have a good 1, with good tenants. Rents are going up this year though as they have had none for 4-6yrs.
I still believe Our hard earned is doing better in the properties than it is in the other side, although we made a big change to that recently so we will see.

Still along way to go before we can claim our state pension

I am thinking of buying a couple of holiday chalets with part of my pension pot. Nice little income during the summer and probably better than where the money is atm.

You younglings!!!!!:D:D:D
Got my state pension this Feb, wifey delayed hers by 3 years but got it quite a while back now seeing as she is older than me!:)
We always felt that investing in property was always better than anything else, unless you spent full time working on it, and even then....
But our son has made a packet dealing in all sorts of stuff living in Japan, as well as owning a property and working as a language teacher.
He's taught his son to do it and at 11 he is a bit of an expert on "bitcoin" and even blogs about it.:rolleyes:
I haven't even looked at this as it would fly over my head!:(

The trouble with any holiday property, unless you employ someone to do the work, is that every changeover day there is cleaning to do, paperwork, settling in the new peeps, repairing and replacing broken or nicked stuff etc etc.
But fine if you do it through an agency or buy a couple on a camp where this goes on.
Wifey had a brother in law who managed to do this on a site in New Milton while living in the Midlands, so they had one from the 60s until now! They never had to go there to do anything.
So it can work!
Why not?!:D:D

Yeah the places we are looking at are managed. You own it but they take a cut and look after it.

Well i have spent most of the day chasing the purchase of tarps for the vehicles we will be leaving behind and helping Wifey with her claim against Parcels2go and Chronopost.:mad::mad::mad:
Boy do the barstewards make it difficult.
Thye send you emails you have to click on to "progress your claim" then they refuse to recognise you, etc.
So in the end she found the company's address and has written them a letter by snail-mail. this after a nearly hour long "chat" with a bot then a bloke with a well weird name. Head office is in Bolton, so the name sounds, well, "effnick".
We'll see if anything comes of it!:(:(:(

looked at holiday homes but wasn't convinced long-term over bricks and motar house, not to say they dont work.
its not an easy choice to invest your hard earned:).
I guess a little bit of solar investment on your new place wouldn't be a bad call (huge workshop/ house south facing) It would do better than money in the bank, but dont know what feed in tariffs are these days (I understand they have gone down) My parents did it when FIT was good and they actually get there electrickery and gas bills paid for by the sun. worth a look:) It is also a different way of using electrickery which goes against the norms;).

.... that I am making waves in local council circles over a planning application in my street.
Sneaky bastard has opened a cafe in a residential house in advance of a planning decision.
Asked the head of governance why there were no "Red Notices" posted and why the council hasn't closed him down?
Could it be because palms have been greased or because he is a furriner playing the "race card"?
Anyways I have had a local councillor (who is also opposed) call on me to tell me he is on the case too.
Last leader of the council got booted out after an independent corruption enquiry.
Good, keep at it. On the roadside 'pull-in near me, one of the residents has taken upon himself to park his SORNed car there as he has far more vehicles than he can keep on his property - he has taken up a lot of his space by building a huge shed - 'cos he got it cheap' ! He then parks either his other car there and/or his motorhome blocking the whole lot from the purpose it is there - a Pull-in along a country road. The temptation to dob 'im in is strong!!

A call to the county's "Highways" department stating the location and the loss of amenity will resolve it. :)

If it is a single lane with passing places road then it is a bit more serious than if it is a lay-by, but in either case he is preventing legitimate use of it.
Anonymous dob in, why not? They'd only warn him anyway I'd expect!;)

No, they walk around and ask if you have cavity wall insulation. They look at the double glazing and the loft insulation. Thats it really, in and out in 15 minutes.

They stick it on the website for all interested parties to smile at ;)
When they did mine, 12 years ago, they recommended I changed the multitude of ceiling downlighters to more energy efficient bulbs and the only other thing they could come up with was to install a wind turbine  although that 'might not be cost effective for us at this stage'. Seeing as I never use the downlighters - I am not keen on living my life as if on a stage, they never got done. Incidentally, this certificate is still valid!!
