No.My mum's from Barrow, so we have a few rare phrases too.
One from down ere for you though.. In the spirit of enquiry.
Ever heard of 'squinny '? Is sposed to be part of the local dialect, such as It is.
Don't shoot me down too fast but......NO! Doesn't surprise me and I have probably been put to the end of the expanding queue following the very heated conversation I had with the workshop manager - people do not like being told the truth. If you think about it, there is no way he would send someone out 'in a hurry' as he would be loosing face.
No.... you can only have ships in a FridayWas there chips in that equation?
Don't shoot me down too fast but......
This van of yours, without it's mover working properly, is not fit for purpose.
So I'd be thinking about a small claims case, provided it fits inside the parameters.
If it was sold to you with working movers, then surely that is part of the thing you paid for?
It must have cost a pretty penny and as you bought it from a dealer and not a private individual, then that person has "expert knowledge" and should be capable of selling a thing that works or putting it right if it doesn't.
I feel your pain cos I have been in this same situation with a car that a main dealer proved incapable of replacing an engine with a new one properly. The car never ran properly and I ended up selling it to a guy who built a kit car around it. But for years it languished in my garage as I could not find a way around it. Cost me a packet when I could ill afford it.
Since then i have learned how to use the Small Claims Track and never lost a case.
In many cases just the threat of it, or getting the court papers is enough to kick their butts into action.
You may not want to do this, but I am just saying.......
It should get you pushed to the top of the queue and make them realise you are not going away. It presents them with a deadline they cannot get around, and is "fob you off" proof.
Anyway, best of luck.
Yesterday I did manage to get the appropriate phone number from another dealer as it is not available on their website, so that is going to be my next move- no pun intended. From the video it is clear to see what is wrong, the difficulty is getting the supplier to get round to doing something about it!@derwendolly find the company that made the mover and show them the vid of it not working. Ask for advice.
Or put it on AG on ere. Probably another snail on ere who has one and can see what's wrong.
Does it move it ok in a flat tarmac carpark?
Oh... My families interpretation of that was that the lady wearing all the fur was doing so because she was often treated to furs by gentlemen because she was often without her knickers.Fur is worn by the posh people but 'underneath' they are as common as muck and can't even afford a pair of knickers. In other words it's all for show.
I have already told them I am prepared to go down the legal route - part of our very heated conversation - and his reply was simply "Then do it." . I then said that it was not my wish to do that but if that was the only way I could get something done then so be it and it was then that he offered to ask the mystery workshop man to call in on his way back from the hospital appointment. Since then, nothing. I won't be waiting much longer before I resurrect my communication channel with him. It has to be noted that he has NOT REFUSED to do the work merely said that you will have to wait a few months as we are very busy.
What really set me off was that after I took the trouble to travel to report the problem in person but was told the appropriate person was not available as they were 'in the yard checking in the vans' but it would be noted on the record and marked for a reply asap. Two days later I had not had any further communication from anyone so I rang to ask if it was possible to speak to someone - no-one available but they will asap. Three weeks later, still not reply so I rang again. This time I got put through to someone in the workshop office. It was this lady who sent me on the wild goose chase to a manufacturer which bore no connection to the mover I had! Basically I was just being 'kept quiet' by making me feel something was being done. Having wasted their time and mine and got nowhere I rang the dealer and blasted off. It hasn't done me any good but I doubt they will try that wheeze on anyone else in a hurry.
