Me dads temp sensor broke and gave a warm signal all the time. His freezer were near enuff running permanent so it was costing loads to run. He only realised when the lectric bill was far too high fer several periods of bill measuring. Tis a good idea to know where yer p*ssin energy up wall.
I have been forced (By Wifey) to leave a freezer running, or "on" all the time in Frogland cos we has so much fruit picked out of our orchard in it.. It'll be interesting to see what difference it makes to the elctricity bill! I already told her what i thought it would cost us, according to the blurb that came with the machine, cos it is new. €240.
That buys a lot of fruit, FFS:mad::mad::mad:

Hope you put something in there to tell if you have had a power cut.

Cheers

Chap at wuk has massive utility bills. Wife and kids always leave the lights on upstairs when staying down stairs or going out. Not just one light on to look occupied if going out. Best of all if the house is too hot they dunt turn down the heating. They open a window. Tis quite funny hearing him bang on about it.

Yep, the fruit!
Seriously though you is not wrong as this does happen occasionally. the freezer would restart automatically and we have neighbours who keep a lookout, with keys. But if the worst came to the worst we'd find a load of bags with mushy mess in them, have to chuck em and my case would be made for not doing it again!
She will only use the frozen fruit for jam making, crumbles etc. I'm more worried about the fire risk.. but as it is new and not in a place where it could get overheated I am not too worried. We do the same in the UK when we leave for frogland and have never yet had a problem. but I am now going to touch wood!

I've just found a power consumer that isn't required.

After my computer died the other month I decided to take it apart, clean it and reassemble it and it's been fine since then.

However, it occurred to me that it's got an all-singing all-dancing video controller fitted so I checked the computers power consumption while idle (login screen) and while playing a yootoob video and then tried the same things after disconnecting it from the motherboard and just used the built-in VGA and discovered that the soopa-doopa video card was using roughly 20watts of power!!

Needless to say it has now been relegated to a shelf where it may well see out it's days.

I'm pleased with this outcome. More pennies saved. :D:D

A coin or stainless washer laid on top of a jar /pot of frozen water is a good indicator of a bad defrost cycle having happened.

Cheers
