That NHS we have all been applauding?
Effing-Shambles! A follow-up appointment for an ultrasound scan to check on Thumper (my aortic aneurysm) booked by them (not me) back in July for today.
Go all the way there (as requested, and having been reminded that "wasted appointments cost the NHS £160"), only to be told "Sorry these appointments have all been cancelled hasn't anybody contacted you?"
FFS would I be here if they had?
It is stressful enough having a ticking time bomb in your guts, but getting ****ed about is just insulting. /rant.
They can't be that bad. Yer still alive because of the help they've given so far. Without them we'd be lost.

On this day...

FÜCK !! Am in Tier 4.
According to that, we have to leave the 91 YO MIL all alone on Xmas day because SHE is effectively another household?
Jesus!
The MIL is unable to shop for herself and yet we are NOT ALLOWED to take her shopping? WTF?

Nope, she can be in your social bubble, same as my dad is in ours, and he lives on his own ...

You can get her shopping but not take her to the shops ... IYKWIM ...

In Wales the single person living alone can be included in your bubble. 'They' are very, very keen on preserving people's good mental health. Perhaps it is the same in England.
You can do her shopping for her - another job on your list! But the relief comes when you learn that you cannot take her to the shops. :):):)

Wish all mine were a foregone conclusion. Even though the guys are decent blokes occasionally I get something out of left field. Do you have a secret, or is it just doing due diligence?
Galv chassis/bulkhead helps. I ring up in a morning & ask the receptionist if they are busy,if really busy I take in a hot sarnie as well. Hot coffee & donuts also help. He eats while the apprentice goes over the motor as they don’t get old motors in. Plus it’s had many conversion parts the apprentice has a good test.
Once they looked over it they normally ask me questions.

(MOT man has known this motor since I arrived into the area, as he broke down at a junction I was just going for mot I stopped & towed him back.)

Morning All :D
Another day in the salt-mine ;)
I shall be painting those "repaired patches" on the ceiling today (gaining further brownie-points). :)
I am in good-odour with SWMBO at the moment because I have bought the MIL a Senior Persons LARGE FORMAT mobile phone and have paid for a £6/month PAYG mobile contract.:)
This should reduce the stress around her being largely uncontactable because the internal phone wiring (like the electrical wiring) in her house is dodgy.
The crap BIL has "had a look" and can find nothing wrong with the phone wiring. However I doubt that he could find his own Ar$e with both hands and a torch.
So herself thinks I am an alright geezer (or something like that) because I am trying to help.
Have a great day everyone. :D
You must look like a brownie now!
Well done!

I painted the ceiling as directed and the guvnor has declared herself "happy". :D
I then went and played with some tools and squared up a scrap of worktop and cut it into two pieces to make 2 "gifts".
They have been rounded off and then sanded 100/120/240/400 grit.
One is a table mat/stand for condiments or flowers etc. and the other is a heavy-duty breadboard/chopping board.
Perishing cold standing out there. Brrrrrr..... But all I have to do now is oil these up. :D
I hope they are properly appreciated. :)
