A belated Good Morning/Afternoon to everyone :D
I had a lovely lie-in and slept through till about 10.
A nice Sunday Brunch has been enjoyed already.:)
I was up in the attic yesterday and all the crates & boxes that contain Christmas are down from there and awaiting deployment.
Taking a trip to the LR indie's this PM to drop the car off for a service tomorrow. Should be done the same day.
Herself is asking me what I want for my Birthday, and honestly I have no idea. :(
If I asked for a small hobby-lathe I would doubtless get one, but that is a very slippery slope of expenditure, the lathe is 1/2 the cost and half the required tooling.
I think I may just wait and see what springs to mind in the next week or two.
Have a great day everyone. :D

I bought a small Axminster one about ten years ago and for most of that time it has sat unused in the shed as once the novelty of making bowls and other such items had worn off I gave that up - there is a limit as to what one does with such items eventually! I ended up with all the gear and …. little use for the products. As you say, buying the lathe was just the start of the expense.:) What it did teach me is that it would be a tiny Proxxon (?) one that I would get much more use out of as I could then make lace bobbins which I could use in the hundreds. :) 'horse for courses' I suppose.
The reason I posted this is to say think carefully what you are going to do with the lathe that would make it a long-lasting interest before you buy! :):):)

I try and make something every weekend. I give them away to friends and family :)

It has been a bit of a "fix-it" weekend.
Fixed my broken phone.
Fixed the broken repeater indicator hanging out of the wife's car (nasty BMW crap), superglue and some hot-melt glue and its all good again.
Fixed the monitor that I lent my son and he broke before returning it.
Rehung the large mirror in the guest bedroom.
Tired out I am ;)

And I've a week of ''broken'' things! Can I send some of mine to your "fixed" shop?:D

If only. I have something of a reputation for "fixing" stuff.
When visiting our various friends they would all leave out stuff that was broken in the hope that I would ask "What's that doing there?"
A workmate one asked if would mind coming home to his place because the daughter's stuffed toy was drowning in the washing machine that would not empty(Lego in the pump vanes as it turned out).
I didn't mind, there is a great deal of satisfaction in fixing simple stuff that others fear to meddle with. ;)

Happy Sunday to all:)
