When machining stuff in my workshop, I use imperial as my main measuring units.
But I will cut 110mm off the bar then face it to 4 inches.... :D

There is often many debates as to which is the most accurate.
When working in oilfield length was measured in feet and tenths a foot was still a foot but was split into 10 (so the dumb oilfield workers could add it up:p) No I know:)

But ODs &IDs worked in proper inches;)

My feelers are all thou:)

Strange when you mix both to make it easy, now mostly length is measured in meters and I have often said to the young guys don’t always round up to the next 5mm cos over a lot of meters it can get you in trouble.

Strange how some of a certain age mix and match as needed.
The youngsters these days wouldn’t know how big a foot is now, unless they got kicked with it:D

I was brought up with both, I have just never accepted decimalisation :)
So you still think 10 bob is a lot of money to give a kiddy for pocket money! (Me too, what do they spend it on, a Lucky Bag and a Beano is only a tanner all together!):)
If you were brought up with both you must be younger than me!! I can (just) remember spending farthings. Pretty little coins with a robin on them. :)

Funny thing is, if you say to a kid in school how tall are you, most will answer in Feet and inches, but if you ask them to hold their hands a foot apart, they don't have a clue, or didn't till I retired 5 years ago. Yet they all know their weight in kilos. (I only use kilos for weight as for years we only had a French weighing scales.)
Funniest thing ever was when I asked a physics teacher, in class, "How much does a litre of water weigh?" He didn't have a clue!!!!! (I was explaining the history of the metric system to a French class at the time!)

Tomorrow night I fear I shall be chiding myself for not taking down me gazebo yesdi.
Yesdi tomorrow being today (right @Hippo ?) Although I should have taken it down yesdi, yesdi today bein yesdi an not today tomorrow.

Although in some bloody minded way I'm hoping my additional guys will prove their worth an I can poke two fingers up to Messrs Breezi, Windi and their Sister... Gale :)
