Just taken a few large boxes in and opened them.....

Many, many thanks to everyone who donated - this gear will make a heck of a difference to our group, allowing us to do short weekend night hikes locally and provide the cubs/scouts with a much better. modern standard of tentage.

They will also be able to learn quality knife skills as a group, rather than 'one does it, pass the knife on' so to speak. Also, we'll be able to give the kids warm drinks quickly without having to spark a full on fire during troop meetings outside.

Saw Terry's daughter earlier, she thinks he's back, so I'm going to nip up his now and show him the gear.

Great stuff :) Top job all round

No need to to humble anyone but a few pics of a happy troop making use of the kit at some point would be nice :)

Just back from seeing Terry. I actually think he was a bit choked up at the speed and generosity of Landyzone and its members across the world!

He couldn't believe that a love of a vehicle could bring a bunch of people together across the world enough to donate a dozen tents, half a dozen knives, a Kelly Kettle and some funds to have a few camp fire nights.

Rest assured there will be photos of the kids enjoying the tents and knives in due course, as we have officially broken for summer as we follow school holidays as a group as in times gone by our leaders were often teachers and its something that has stuck, and will probably stick as I myself am a supply teacher.

Its a shame the weather here is on and off today - would've loved to have nipped over 'the Cwm' - the area where we do a lot of our outdoor scouting activities as it has a stream, woods and plenty of space that we can use without disturbing anyone.

Nice one mate, glad it's stuff people can, and will, use rather than just a chunk of money.

Be good to see pics of it in use one day, scouts mums and dads permitting photo's on the nasty interwebby thing .. ;) I'm caretaker in an infant school, so know about some of the, er, 'difficulties' .. :)

Remember we have some cash in the kitty, unless there is a specific request for something else-I vote to pass it to pontyslapper for sponsored evenings out.

:D cracking effort everyone, I will email pictures to lady at highlander

It is for kids. And most of use have been scouts at 1 time in our lives. The look on Terry's face has to be priceless.

This would make a good news story and give some positive views of land rover owners.

Spoken to Terry and I have sent Kitty to pontyslapper for open fire food such as burgers marshmallows etc- Terry sounded bit choked up and said he didn't know who to write to.
My reply it was a pleasure and I'm sure forum members have fond memories of scouts as children.

:p :D hadn't thought of that.

Get a couple of LZ members for a photo shoot giving the gear to the kids, they write a little story, or even get a reporter to be there also. Grab the good PR when you can
