ok i'm after some tyres...

mrs wants drive doin...

the drive covers an area 17ft long x 12ft wide, then it widens over the next 23ft to 17ft wide..

so total length is 40ft width varies...

its been dug out then some "crusher run" put down bout 4 inch deep..

so will need diggin out again, i have a use for the stuff dug out so can be left on site and dont need to be removed..

i need an idea of cost for diggin out, shuttering and the concreting..

the last 23 ft slopes to the road and will need a sump drain thingy..

anyone in leeds gimme a quote?

or can anyone "in the trade" gimme an idea of cost..

cheers...

Go see yer local scrap man and ask for a skipful of tyres and lay em out on yer drive.
Hey presto a cheap recycled tyre surface for you to be the envy of the neighbourhood:lol:

ha ha ha... very good advice... i'm now in the dog house... it doesnt need a drive... lol,,

had a look at imprinted concrete..... £3k!!

compromised on flaggin it, and gettin tyres...

i could have done that for you with a cupla labourers... i've quite a bit of groundworks experience but its hard to price up a job without looking at it... need exact measurements by the metre, depths as well... there's a lot of things to think about, go for the tyre's i guaruntee you it'll be cheaper! A lorry load of ready mix concrete is a few hundred quid!

cheers for that..

was just looking for a ball park figure.. so i could see how much left for tyres...

chichester a bit of a hike from leeds....

yea mate wouldn't be worth me doing it... if i was local i could have come round n priced it up for you though...

I'd avoid tarmac on it, cos you'll be stung for any new water run off you create by the water companies, and its not cheap. Cheaper option and better by far is just putting mot type 1 down. Self drains, never turns to sheet ice in winter, way cheaper, always get traction on it, really hard wearing, and it doesn't look too bad, I quite like it myself. And if you ever need to repair the drive, throw another bag of mot on top and whack it down, easy! You could lay your own drive in and afternoon with some mates. Once that's done, then go and get new tires with all the 1000's you saved.

not fun repairing the disco on the loose stuff thats there now.. i would like somethin flat n solid...

gonna go for flaggin the first 17ft level, the mot type 1 the rest...

no run off that way...

Na, now you can drive over anything, no drive needed. So you can spend the pennies you save not doing that on a winch, roof rack, rock sliders, etc, etc :D That's how economics works, you know! (I think):D:D

Had new Tarmac drive last year, about 30ft x 12ft, cost £3500. Drive slopes towards the house so council consent not required, (the Tarmac laid was the type that allows the water to drain through and not run off so there would have been no problem with run off into the road) Various quotes for block were in the region of £7,000 to £10,000 so Tarmac seemed the best option (Wife didn't like the idea of concrete)

mrs dont like idea of owt but the most expensive option to be found...

so i'm gonna flag an area for me and pebble the bit up to the pavement/roadside...
