...so what can I do, exhaust wise? Any V8 can be made to sound good with a reasonable exhaust, so what's the best route to free up some DB's without losing any power.
Anyone still make/stock aftermarket sports exhausts at a reasonable price?

Easiest way to go is remove the centre box and put in a straight through centre box replacement pipe (stainless).
An alternative is remove the back box and change the centre box for a cherry bomb centre; I know a couple of guys who went this route; sounds pretty good.
You need to be careful though because as already said it can be too loud and you wouldn't want to drive any distance; I've made that mistake myself got to the point I almost didn't want to drive it!
Thanks guys! Dr_Evil - is that a back box or centre box? How much?
Cheers Kev. Would either of those options make it "boomy" and too noisey at cruising speed do you think?
Not really. I run mine on standard back box but no centre box and it is fine. Gives just enough noise as you give some gas, stick a snorkel on it and get some induction roar as well and you're good to go!
When I had no centre box and a small cherry bomb on the back it was too much, would give you a headache after about 20 min (mind you I am getting older!)
Cool, thanks Kev! Where did you get your centre section from, or did you just make one up out of some straight pipe?
can't you just remove the back box and replace it with a lengh of pipe . thought the center box did all the back pressure work ?
