Hi ppl,
ok this has prob been asked before but I could do with some info...

I got some pretentious puddle lights for my fl1 06 td4 and am capable of fitting but struggling to id the wires to tap in the door?

Has anyone fitted them before?
Or have a simple how to type advice like step by step?

Door card removal no issues it takes me ten min.......speaker out for access....I can see the wiring loom in the door...best guess from the haynes bible would be purple/white wire but thats as far as I have got....

The puddle lights have a black and red wire........
Does anyone have an answer, which wire do I connect to the loom or do I need to put a feed into the door from the fuse box end?

Any help would be very much appreciated.......

These need to be wired into the same circuit as the internal lamp, so that they come on when the car is unlocked (as you walk towards it and use your fob) so you can see if there's a puddle.

Are you sure that the FL1 carries that circuit to the doors ?

PS and advice, go to the intro section and introduce yourself and your vehicle before you start getting some noobie abuse. Folk here don't like noobs coming in and asking questions straight away. AND, also try the search facility.

it has been done on here before and they found out the lock on the door activated the lights as it is not your conventional door switch ,
please do not shoot me teddyshooter

Ok,
there is a feed but cant find the definative in the ACTUAL DOOR WIRING LOOM, so my question really centres around anyone who has fitted them........the orevious topic has been covered but not in enough detail as there was no actual answer....
if I find out how I will post up in the "how to" section.....just incase noobs like me are looking for the same.

thanks for the responses so far though..

The wires in the door for the lock will only carry trigger/pulse voltage for the CCU, you will have to tap into the wires to the interior lights.

One is purple(+) and purple/white(-). You can get to it behind the fuse panel, under the door step trim(right side), or behind the left "A" post trim(on LHD, might be right side on RHD.).

Yes I've recently fitted some puddle lamps!

You need to get 2 wires to each lamp. Those 2 pairs of wires need to go to the ceiling lamp, i.e. up via the A pillars. There's a bit of fishing around but it's not to difficult. 'T' into the purple/white feed wire to the ceiling lamp, that will be the power feed to the puddle lamp. Then T into the plain purple with that will be the return circuit for the puddle lamps. It those puddle lamps are LED you'll need to get the polarity right or they won't work.

Cheers

Cheers htr, will give it a go, located the purple/white in the door and was just looking for the purple...
will keep you posted. Cheers ppl.
