... I got number one and two out very easily, and replaced them even more easily. Number three, however, was solid. So, I gave it everything I had to loosen it off. Obviously too much.

Now it turns but isn't going anywhere.

Common problem? I can't seem to find another thread.

What to do now?

You may find the thread is ok but the heater plug has sheared. I would probably try to pull the top part of the plug off and see what's left. Unfortunately, you may have to take the head off as any drilling or extracting may drop stuff in the hot spot thing.

Thanks SD. Yeah, I've just been looking at some youtube vids. Looks messy. I think I'm gonna be out of my depth completely here, so, I'm going to have it towed to a relative who knows about this kind of stuff.

By the way. Is there any reason I shouldn't try to start it? I suppose it will be difficult with a knackered plug, but, should it start, would I be risking anything?

It'll be fine but be aware that it 'may' blow the stripped plug out so don't stand looking in the line of fire!

Seriously - when they come out nobody wants to be in the way. When I had one go it took part of the wiring loom with it and I never did find either.
