I have just got back from Devon in one of these lorries. It cost me £142 (though I do get that back from my recovery company, eventually).

I jumped in the motor to drive home from work and my clutch pedal just went straight to the floor with no resistance.
I have had a clutch fluid leak, but had been topping it up with no probs, just like all the other oil leaks..
I cannot see any fluid leaking, so am guessing its down in the slave cylinder somewhere..?

Anyone offer any advice..?

Hope so for Jonnyp's sake, as it a hell of a lot easier to change than the fork.

Too right.. Gonna overhaul master and slave cylinders tomorrow and see if that does it.. Fingers crossed n all that..

Edit.. If I do have to get into the clutch, is it easier to do via engine out, or gearbox out..? (not got a hoist)

Join the AA.

£142 then you claim it back.

AA just come and get you and thats it,

Iv never had to use them for about 15 year but stay with them anyway just for that peice of mind.

Did the recovery driver not through in any idea`s of what it was when he checked it out before loading you on the back of his recovery wagon

Used to be with the AA, but they are too expensive for me now.
The driver did give me some ideas and we were going to try and bleed the system to try and get me going again, but I did not want to break down again half way home and wait another 2 hrs for them to get out to me again. He agreed and got me home on the lorry..

I got me a new slave cylinder today, to see if that was the problem, but although it looked the same, and fitted in place, the pipe unions would not screw into it, so they must of given me the wrong part
Got a master cylinder repair kit in the post too. Thinking its worth trying the easier jobs first..

Thank MOD1 that I am old enough to have done double de-clutching/crash gearboxes/no syncromesh etc.:D if I had to get recovered everytime I had a clutch go I would still be out there waiting:rolleyes:

Lucky for me, it turns out to be the slave cylinder, which I replaced. But I also got a repair kit for the master cylinder while it was all being done (I thought for £3 it was worth doing).
So I puts it all back together and tried to bleed it with the girlfriend on the pedal n me on the nipple, yeah baby.. She pumps n pumps but I cannot get any pressure back in the system. She gets bored n tootles off, so I go and borrow a pressure bleed kit.
I rig it up and get loads of air out and get some resistance back in the clutch pedal, but not quite enough, so I start to pump on the clutch pedal too, and thats when I get fluid shot out all over my foot. The master cylinder repair kit had failed. I got me a new one on order.
Sorry if that sounded like a sex story..
