So you are telling us that you put your car into a garage - and that garage can't change a cambelt!

Send a pm to nodge, he will have all the info!
In my sig is how to change the belt, but you should mark the pulleys unless you know what you are doing. I don't need to mark the pulleys, but I can almost change the belts blindfolded!
If the engine has been turned with the timing wrong, the valves WILL be damaged, which will require the heads to be rebuilt.

I'd find another mechanic as the belts aren't that difficult to do, even if the marking was forgotten.
The rear belt pointer notches must be facing each other while a straight edge is held through the centre of the pulleys. Doing this will put the front pulleys in the correct position for the front belt to be fitted. The crank needs locking in the correct place with a 6mm pin through the engine adapter plate into the drive plate.
With all 4 cams in the correct place and the crank locked, the belt can be fitted with all the slack on the tensioner side. The pin locking the tensioner can then released to take up the slack.
There's loads of scary stuff branded around on these engines but the belts aren't difficult to do, I can change all 3 and the water pump in under 30 minutes. You just need to be methodical and double check everything. Don't turn the engine until the belts are timed correctly, or damage is caused to the valves.

actually i not give him the car for changing timing belt only, i give to him to changing gearbox, spark plugs, cleaning injectors, cleaning throttle, changing timing belt, change V belt and change water pump
that is why i can not go to another mechanic :(:(
now, i searching in internet and asking you to found the correct answer, i know it is easy to changing belts but human always make mistake :):):)

Now if you can fly me out to Bahrain, I can do the belts for you. However it would be cheaper to simply have the Freelander moved to an LR dealer for the work to be done.

The best option would be to obtain the cam locking tools and follow the instructions in Rave. This is the easiest way to set the timing when staring afresh, without experience of the KV6.
The rear link belts are the key. They are set first, as the datum for timing. Then the crank needs to be locked through the locking pin hole. Once those two things are done, the front long belt will be timed correctly.
The front pulleys haven't been removed so you only need to fit the tools for the rear belts. This will then lock the timing for the front belt to be fitted.
Your best bet is get the locking tools;)

that exactly i told to him ( fix the cambelt first then you will found another side it will be correct )

I agree, being in Canada where there is not a lot of knowledge on the KV6, I can attest to it is best to get the tools if you go to an independent. Check eBay for KV6 tools. If you check this auction, there is a set for sale for around US$104 plus shipping which is VERY affordable. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Land-Rover-2-0-2-5L-V6-Timing-Kit-Special-Belt-Tools-/261406932924

Now if he needs more details and he can fabricate (weld or make) his own tools, look at this thread, it is very comprehensive. (It is not in a Freelander, but it is the same engine and same process in a different vehicle)
