i have already propeller shaft ( my friend give to me ), but need to replace bearings and front GAITER
that is why i asked before spend money
all part in car fixed except propeller shaft
So your friend gave you one of the cheaper parts needed.

I presume it comes with a VCU? If yes, the props will be at least 10 years old, when was the VCU on it last replaced? Have you tested the VCU? I say again you will/may/will also certainly need a recon/new VCU.

So the IRD (and rear diff) is "fixed"? You have had it stripped, examined and checked. It has known good bearings, shims & gears for the rear drive PTO? Unless you have had it stripped, you have no idea whether it is capable of operating as 4WD.

Why was it 2WD when you bought it - I mean what was the REAL reason it was 2WD? You may be lucky - someone might have thought they could get better fuel consumption or the support bearings might have gone - but that is what every seller says - it is highly likely that they were running bad tyres and/or the VCU was stuffed and it had, or was very close to, destroying the IRD and/or rear diff. If that's the case, the car may appear to drive perfectly in 2WD (although maybe there might be some little unexplained clicking that is ignored) - but will either not have a IRD capable of supporting 4WD (due to internal failure) or be very close to not supporting 4WD.

Is the gaiter not there or was it broken/split? If it was split, how long was it split for? How much grease did it lose? Has that damaged the CV inside it?

Sorry..... will almost certainly. Didn't want to be a "doom-monger"

Absolutely, there is a lot of effort and knowledge gone into various threads over the years and it is annoying that it isn't referred to more. No commercially instigated 1/2 truths either. No need to take a pop at someone who's helped a lot of peeps though. It would help if things were more readily available and easy to find here.
Maybe all noobs aught to be pointed to the CFAQ section and the how-to's in each vehicle section?..... But then most don't read the basic instructions anyway ....... "Why can't I sell my motor."

in our country there is no forest or off-road area , that is why almost people cancelled 4WD. this is answer for your quotation.

after all member advice i think i found my answer, there is advantages and disadvantages
advantages:
1-all power it will equal it all tires , it will give long life for tires
2- if i need towing car or anything it will be easy

disadvantages:
1-maybe after spend money in propeller shaft found another problems
2-i think i never use off-road
3-maybe IRD broken

@ mhm
can put a bit of effort into this site rather than promoting others.....". Grrrr!

it's quite simple 'mhm' ..
the op's english aint that brilliant ..
better to post a short explanation on the subject ..
rather than having the op trawl thru loads of banter / arguments to get to the technical details

many ppl use paddocks for parts .. so what's the harm in giving the op that link ?
it might be useful for them ..

i don't have a bookmark for an LZ thread that would meet the requirements
there must be umpteen+ threads on LZ regarding the vcu workings ..

i originally wanted the thread that showed the vcu internal workings exposed
couldn't find it quick enough ..
a search brought up the paddocks link
tough .. huh ..

all you had to do was to post the relevant LZ thread that would offer a quick read on the subject
i would have saved said link .. and posted it next time it were needed .. simplz ..
with no need for you to throw a tantrum

( you .. and other posters .. aint going to change the way the internet works ..
( pointless banging yer head on a brick wall 'n throwing a fit
( when it don't work out the way you want it to

and if you don't want me to post external links ..
have a word with the site administrators or moderators
they can email with said request .. and i'll cease to post links other than LZ's

until then i'll post what i see as useful .. external links or LZ links ..

as for calling people names .. that's now't but a reflection on you ..

or is this wobbly on your part regarding external links ..
about £ for click / hits to this site ?

i realise you've put a lot of work into some technical advice links for LZ
but get used to the fact not everyone wants to use them as a reference
or can find the thread they want in a hurry ..

and get used to the way the internet works ..
there will Always be new people who are going to ask " what tyres"
or any other often repeated and answered questions ..
( happens on all forums )
and you or anyone else can't change that fact ..
so no use getting stressed over it

That is the longest way to say 'chill' I have ever seen

I'm sure the OP will enjoy trawling through it in case it contains anything useful

@ elameed elaneed ..

here's an LZ version of what the 'VCU' is and how it operates :
https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/the-definitive-freelander-vcu-testing-thread.99163/

here's how to test the VCU's condition :

feel free to wade thru that thread from the start ..

if you do a LZ site 'search' for " vcu "
there are .. some where .. pictures of what the vcu unit looks like inside
