Hello,

I may have breathed in the fibre material when cutting up my 1995 Disc 300 tdi rear muffler.

Can anyone please tell me if its:
Asbestos,
Rock wool or
Glass wool.

You are right, I checked with land Rover they advised glass wool. I understand that the lungs can dissolve glass wool so I may survive to do the next stupid thing.

Look on the bright side.........at least you're voice will sound deeper and not as loud! :D

I'm still feeling crook some weeks after it and still wet coughing. No point in getting scans as theres nothing they can do anyway.
I read that the sticky black soot (which was going everywhere), is highly carcinogenic. Maybe thats whats doing it ?

It takes a while to get **** out of the lungs, but you're right, there's little to nothing that can be done to help.

I'm an ex coal-miner and 10 years after leaving the pits I was still coughing up black stuff occasionally. It's clear now, but that's 20+ years since I left ..

If you feel it getting hard or tight or awkward to breathe, or just want to try and relax a bit, an 'old-wives' remedy is to use boiling water in a bowl or bucket, a few drops of Lavender oil, drape your head and the bowl with a towel and breathe in the steam. It does help ... ;)
