well today I went to see a D1 300tdi
this car has stood on this yard since 2014 and I finally tracked the owner down (turns out its my uncle)

so I got talking to him about it its sat on 194k and failed its mot in 2014 for body rot (boot floor)
at 150k it got a recon 300tdi fitted that's a good point ? also has the original engine
so after an hour or so I parted with £400 and towed it home (2 streets away)

she doesn't run
she has loads of orange bits that flake off if touched and mostly let fresh air in
carpets are soaked
rear door doesn't open at all
rear right door only unlocks when you take the door card off and **** about with it

sooo what I have done is bought my first landy and I love it already

soo...
my names Robert ( boab )
Ii am from Ayrshire Scotland
I am a mechanic that holds 3 welding certs
I am a landy owner

best go find the projects section and make my self at home

Ahhh... the salty west coast...just the place for a rust bucket to rip.
Welcome! Make yourself at home - and keep us up to date with any progress!
:D

I will do lol
its a lot better than i expected for rust to be fair lol
a pillar b pillar sills rear arches and boot floor only thing i need to buy are the rear arches i will fab the rest

the lift pump has packed in so it won't start need to find one lol

Sounds like a good bit of fun, im tempted to get a disco 1, so I can choose between a rusty body, or a rusty chassis! Would make he D1 the off-road fun, and the D2 would be my daily

this is why i wanted the D1 he has a D2 also that he uses now and then but its been a bit of a dog and not very reliable the chassis is rotten on it

personally think best way is D1 chassis and D2 body lol

I did see someone sticking a D2 body on a D1 chassis, will have to see how they got on as I expect that's a lot cheaper than buying a galvanised D2 chassis! And that's also why I will get a D1 so I can use it off road and not worry about the chassis
