Hi mate ,
I live in Springhead.
Do you mean Woodbrook Lane ?
I’ve not driven up there recently but I’ll go and have a walk up there with the dog tomorrow and let you know.
Hi, I have watched a few videos on YouTube about Brooks Lane, but don’t know where it is (probably because it’s a boat) it doesn’t come up on the maps? Lowrangers have driven it a few times, together with another from Oldham to Holmfirth.

hope the above helps mate.

Love a bit of mud now and then, it gives the jet wash something to do. :)
Yes mate ,
It’s Woodbriok Rd.
it runs between Cooper St. and Platting Rd.
I’ve driven up it years ago in an old SIII but haven’t been up there for a while.
I’ll have a look later to see what state it’s in.

I’m shaw based so know the Oldham lanes fairly well though not done them in while since 1st baby arrived but non that great and a few last time I did them are ok but very scratchy, I’d say Stonebreaks rd is one of the worse very over grown.

Hi @rich28uk. @Lexington had a look at a couple of lane’s and found they were washed out or not passable. But scratchy or not, if you fancy an expedition. Let me know. :)

Happy new year by the way. :D

Happy new year, which lanes did you check out? If I can get chance I’d be up for it as I say it’s while since I was last up there, only one I have used mainly as short cut in roadworks is Harrop edge lane which isn’t much, could drive a car down there, wide, relatively flat, tarmac at both ends.

I had a walk down Woodbrook Rd from Lydgate towards Springhead.
Looking a bit rough and probably unable to get on it at the river as the path has washed away.

If it’s the lane I’m thinking off it’s just a bridle way now, a mate of mine used to drive up regular many years ago as in Range Rover classic days but sure it got changed to bridleway and has a gate fitted, also I think if you follow it it brings you out onto Huddersfield rd near another reservoir, though I may be mistaken.

Could it be Harrop Edge Lane? I think it runs from Dobcross to Saddleworth A62.

Can’t remember hunters hill, Harrop edge is the wide and relatively flat one a normal car could drive down, that’s dobcross to A62.

Other one off top of my head that used to be decent but last time was washed out unless council have chucked some rubble in.(unlikely with Oldham council) is standage foot rd which runs from facing th car park at the top of a62 near a reservoir and the start of marsden moor, that goes down toward castleshaw and comes out past the old burnt down/ falling down pub right facing the start of Harrop edge. Just checked on council site but couldn’t find it but they used to have a map with purple for BOATs and UCRs.

@rich28uk @Lexington

I now have trailwise 2, still learning how to use it. :)

how about these two? Perhaps in March if the lockdown is lifted? :D
