well have said hello :D

started on the S3 today, took off the rear lights, door, number plates and other things hanging of the back then took out the rear floor (what was left of it :eek: ).

in the morning i am going to under seal her (easy with the floor off ;) ) and prime where the bench seats will fit and measure up for a new floor -where do you buy those - not seen them online? - and fill in all the spare holes!

just hope the weather is kind oh and my kids want to help :eek:

I don't recall ever seeing the floor sold as a separate part as it is normally a fixed part of the rear tub.
Having said that it is only a sheet of alloy after all so you could get some neatly cut at your local engineering shop and then rivet your old supports to it (if they are still serviceable that is). Not sure if new supports are available separately either.

If you can't find spare-part info on-line then just ring the dealer, you can't beat a face to face meeting or a telephone conversation in my opinion.

was thinking that my self :) would it pass an mot if only rivets are used or would i have to do some welding :eek:

If you can weld ally I am sure they would be very impressed but rivets will be fine. Lots of the body panels are held together with rivets (and a few spot welds here & there) and I am sure no-one will mind a few more.
 
pheew - cant weld (or spell)that well :eek: thinking of sticking a 3mm sheet of ali in the base topped with some ply and a carpet on top of that and up and over where the bench seats will sit for sound proofing,


also,

can you fit 3 point belts in the back for the bench seats? :D
 
she has a rear door, had to buy a step for the kids as their little legs are well to little lol, having a look today and shes not to bad for her age - now the wife and i cant decide what colour,

Ply-lining and/or carpet is a very good way of keeping noise & condensation down.
We have a firm in my village who ply-line commercial vehicles but as long as you can cut straight I can't see the problem on a vehicle which has nice straight lines like a LR.
 
nah not the door at the rear, ah meant door on the side but behind the drivers door. them things have seat already in them and they are a bit more car like. if you don't know what i mean i'll try and find a piccy for you
 
ah was just trying to make yer life a bit easier. not to worry though. let me know how you get on with the floor
 
cheers slob, ill put up some before and after photos off the floor so you can all have a laugh :eek:

in total for the rear end i have on order

new door, hinges, stay and seal

indicator lights, stop lights, number plate light and fog light

lamp guards

and twin step

this ends step one of the project then its onto step two,

the new side windows, bench seats and seat belts and rear speakers

the floor has become step 1a :eek: how many more a,b or c's do you think will come along?? :D
