Right Chaps...!

I have a 1979 SIII 88" with a Ford York diesel, which i was in the process of restoring. It needs some slight welding work, starter motor repair, complete rewire and a good service all round of fluids etc.. also some bits to pass an mot.

I have just purchased a 1981 Stage 1 V8 109" which i intended to use some of the bits to restore the SWB landy and convert the oiler to a V8.

One of my child hood dreams has always been to have a SWB landy with a V8.....:D

Upon inspection the LWB stage 1 is in far better condition and would require a lot less work to get running and be in far better condition than the SWB.

My good lady wife didnt want the 1 landy and isnt too impressed about me now having 2...
So i have to sell either one of them.

Do i break up the stage 1 and make a good SWB, or would it be sin to break a fairly good vehicle to make a not bad one.

Can i live with a LWB landy with a V8 and give which gives me far less work and cost...

I know this could be a large debate but it may help me make up my mind.

It would be a sin to break the Stage 1, they are quite rare and should be preserved.

I would sell the S111 and restore the Stage 1.

Or sell them both and buy something with an MOT already.

I was at stoneleigh show many years ago and saw some guys from Land Rover in a SWB stage 1 safari, shame they never went into production.

if yer set on a v8 it has to be less work to fix the one with the v8 already fitted and flog on the diesel. as a complete nearly runner.

Keep the thing that demands the most work..... that's the way landy work usually goes!

Whats to think about, keep the stage one ya plonker  and tell the missus ta mind 'er own buisness :D

if shes so bothered about wasted space ask the missus why she needs forty pillows and cushions on the bed during the day which all get tossed on the floor overnight, only to have to spend twenty minutes putting them back in the morning!

Oh hang on, that would be my missus

thanks for your replies chaps.

she did say if you get another Landy then it will be divorce.......still toying with one....:D

would love to keep them both, but at the moment the sensible option is to keep the stage 1, although i forgot to mention i have another spare rover V8 engine with some spare bits and bobs which may or may not work...!

Anybody had any experiance fitting a V8 to Landy gearbox....? also how much effort would it be.
