Fair ish.Get wacking boy and beat the fecker straight. You will end with a good wagon but it will be alot of work.

good luck.

Beat the discovery straight or the halfwit I bought it from?!! lol At least I'm still smiling (so far!) lol
I wish I knew how to do stuff myself, I'd just get on and do it but I'm a bit nervous of trying to do anything following the haynes manual I have - not to mention I have no tools, just a socket set..

I want the Fan belt, timing belt, oil/air/fuel filters, oil, and coolant all changed.. Don't suppose anyone is close to Stamford that might like to teach me how??

All of those (apart from the timing belt) are novice jobs that don't need any special tools. Read up on them in Haynes and then come back and ask about anything you aren't sure about before you start....Then go for it :)

Oh ok then, I thought I needed some kind of special tools to do all of those things... I will give it a bash.. Do you know where is the cheapest place to get the filters, belts, oil etc from? Was thinking ebay?

There plenty of people who advertise in the magazines and sell online where you can get the filters...or you could just go to Halfords or any local motor factor...when it comes to changing fluids, don't forget the axles, gearbox and transfer box..and before draining any of them make sure you can undo the filler plug.

Go to your nearest factors that supply trade etc and start buying stuff of em.Build a relationship with them. That will work cheapest in long term.Buy tools to do jobs if you do not have them because its cheaper than paying a mechanic to fucck it up.

At the end of the day its only nuts and bolts so if a mechanic can feck it up fer £30 ph+ so can you.:D

we are here to help.I do my own cambelts cos i brought the tools.:D:D

Easy with the kit for the job.....OK:D

Right, I'll get the filters and start with those, buying tools as I get to jobs that I need tools for. I've never ever been bothered with any of my previous cars before but I've wanted and land rover for so long that now I've got one I want to learn how to look after it myself, I've just been a bit nervous of breaking things! lol Even though it has a few problems and I've only just bought it I love it already!!:)

What do you need to do to the veg oil before you put it in? Does the engine need any mods to run on it? Does it stink? Why have I never heard of this before?! I really do lead a sheltered life!!
