I was looking at these the other day on Ebay £136 are they worth buying or is there a better diagnostic reader out there that wont break the bank. Thanks.

I have one for my 2001 P38. Does fault reading, clearing and live data for ABS, Engine & Gearbox. Should do Hevac according to the website, but doesn't.

Sometimes the P38 can be a bit tricky and take a few times to connect, even with a Nanocom. Also, some modules require ignition position 2 and some off.

I bought one of these for my 04 l322 Td6 but returned it as I did find it that good.
I have both bmw scanner 1.4, and BMW DIS software.
These I found better as they allowed me to adjust the vehicle ride heights and other stuff. The bmw scanner 1.4 is very easy to use and also showed me that the centre parking sensors aren’t working on my car.
The icarsoft didn’t even find the fault.

Never had a problem connecting to P38's with my Faultmate, you just have to know if the ECU needs ignition on or off.

Maybe mine is just being a PITA then. HEVAC on mine is definitely tempermental.
