i have a 200 tdi 1991 defender 90

last night it took me about 10 minutes to select 1st gear and each gear selection was really really difficult i am pretty much swinging off the gear leaver to change gear,
the clutch biting point on the clutch has changed and it now a millimeter off the floor and there is no resistance in the clutch pedal until the last inch
also when i try and select reverse the grinds as if its a syncromesh gear and then after alot of pushing it eventually goes in.

any ideas of what to do?
many thanks rio

check level in reservoir ,bleed system ,if level keeps dropping check clutch pedal for dampness means master cylinders leaking, remove slave cylinder careful you dont pull push rod out with slave ,if your really unlucky it will be release arm in box wearing on pivot

no cant get the cap off thats what i thought it could be the fluid levels,
and there are no leakages from master or slave
thanks

ive done that should the fluid be really full?
but if yes then i need to top it up and bleed because there is only a tiny amount of fluid in the bottom of the resevoir
thanks

yes full to top ,they hold very little ,you might find that it has tiny leak that if checked and topped up will be liveable ,try pumping pedal might come back without bleeding

ok on the cap it says casrtol brake/clutch fluid only, and i have doc 4 comma could i just put that in?
and also its been fine untill i went off roading on monday and yest and then i put it in the low box any chances of leaking from just the low box? because everywhere else is bone dry
thanks rio

dot 4 is okay ,no probably slow leak unless slave seals gone, would have done it anyhow offroading or not

if you have your wading plug fitted in you bell housing remove it and check for fluid in there incase the slave cylinder is leaking.

anyone know where to get cheap 200tdi turbos?
or do i need a new one if it is squeeling like mad?
