Hi all

Not me humming tho I am 40ish - it my disco 51 plate td5 es auto 120000 miles - I’ve got a hum around 40ish miles per hour sounds if it’s coming around the gear box area???
Also please
I have had my steering box reconditioned and the slack taken up but still have play in the steering wheel. When you turn the wheel then turn it back you feel play then a knock and when you go down the road you always seem to be moving the wheel to keep it in line - can anyone help please - have got 18 inch wheels on.

Regarding constantly having to correct the steering whilst driving, check your wheel bearings, one of mine had gone and this caused the steering issue you refer to.

Also check the tyre tread pattern for "stepping".

Steering most likely link ends worn out, perhaps column UJ's.
Humming noise-check hubs, could be rear prop, spin wheels to check for tyre high spots. Maybe check for noise from rotating engine parts.
