I've just purchased a 2003 FREELANDER TD4 HSE, in black (piccies to come shortly). It's done 110k miles and well it's a bit soft on the suspension for me. I'd had looked at getting a Sport Premium version but the price seemed crazy atm, with all the bad weather, so I went for the HSE.

It seems to handling ok at speed, not much side to side movement or roll but its bounces back and forth if you stop at a junction (not even that hard), I think that's the best example I can give.

My thinking is that it would be better and cheaper to improve the HSE suspension by changing the shocks and leaving the ride height the same Or worst case - change the shocks, springs and wheels so it's more like a Sport set up.

So my question.... I've read a little that suggests that the Koni FSD shocks (£500) could be a big improvement to the suspension, as they offer a two-in-one approach setup, without dropping the car down, does anyone have any experience of this, is it a great improvement?

Second question, is it possible to drop the HSE down and what difficulties may I encounter e.g. camber adjustments / spacers / different anti-roll bar etc, not sure this is the best approach as it will cost loads more dosh ( maybe upto £2k)

I was wondering if you put the Koni FSD's on your freelander in the end as I am considering the same option - although I would be retaining the ride height as standard.
