Hi folks...2008, Disco 3, HSE
There is an intermittent niggle with the L.H. door mirror when reverse is selected. I set the reverse dip position and the display tells me that it is set and stored in the memory. All will be fine for a week or so then when I select reverse, the mirror does not dip-select drive and the mirror then raises so I can see the sky !!. Select Reverse again and it dips to the position for normal forward driving.
The only fix is to reset the mirror from scratch for normal and reverse then store the settings, after this is done, things are fine for a while.
All other memory settings, r.h. mirror, seat etc. work as they should. Although there are two keyfobs, I always use the same one and everything to suit me is stored in Memory 1

Anyone else had this weird problem

UPDATE**
Just Googled it and there appears to be many people who have or are suffering the same issue. Strange that it only seems to happen to the L.H. mirror in all cases!!

hi mate

how have u been , hope all is well

found this and don't know if it's any use to u

ref to the drivers memory seat module

TSB LTB00042 issued 16th March '07
All Vehicles With Memory Mirrors VIN- range: 5A300394-7A427985

Summary:
A customer may complain of any of the following conditions:
1. Memory mirrors in the incorrect position after unlocking and entering the vehicle.
2. Memory mirrors not returning to their correct driving position after a reverse
manoeuver has been completed and the gear selector has been moved out of reverse.
3. On vehicles with manual transmission, if the gear position is left in reverse and the
ignition switched 'OFF' (and the vehicle enters sleep mode) when the ignition is next
switched 'ON' and the gear selector moved away from reverse, the mirrors incorrectly
remain in the dipped position. On the next reverse gear cycle the mirrors will recover and
will return to the correct driving position.
4. On vehicles with the 'Lazy Entry' feature enabled, the following sequence will result in
the mirrors incorrectly moving to the dipped position:
a) Ignition 'ON'.
b) Select reverse gear - mirrors move to dipped position.
c) Ignition 'ON' - auxiliary.
d) De-select reverse gear - mirrors move to driving position.
e) Lock the vehicle.
f) Unlock the vehicle - mirrors move to the dipped position (INCORRECT).
5. On vehicles with the lazy entry feature enabled, there is an issue with the normal
driving position drifting. Repeating the following sequence for a number of cycles will
result in a drift:
a) Ignition 'ON'.
b) Select reverse gear (mirrors move to dipped position).
c) Deselect reverse gear (mirrors move to driving position).
d) Ignition 'ON' - auxiliary - key-in - key-out.
e) Lock the vehicle.
f) Unlock the vehicle.
g) Key in - auxiliary.
6. On vehicles with manual transmission, if the gear position is left in reverse (mirrors
dipped) and the ignition is turned 'OFF'. If the ignition is then turned 'ON' and the engine
cranked, and the gear selector is moved out of reverse (whilst still cranking), the mirrors
do not return to the driving position.
NOTE: All other mirror issues other than those described in the Summary will require
further investigation. To be carried out as a separate Warranty Claim.
NOTE: The mirrors may be repositioned using the normal mirror adjustment functionality.
Cause: Some sequences of ignition cycles/gear positions (involving reverse) can cause
the control software within the seat module to become confused and loose the
mirror memory position, or learn an incorrect driving position.
Action: Should a customer express concern, install a new driver seat module.

plus also seen some turn the feature off, lol

With the ignition turned ON, (no need to start the engine,) press the button on the end where you display the various trip computer parameters, until the display area goes blank, press it once more to get "settings" then use the radio channel buttons on the steering wheel to switch between the various functions to get to "auto mirrordip" then you can turn it on/off with the steering wheel volume up/down buttons, finally press the stalk button again to save and exit the settings

Switch off lazy entry fixes the mad mirrors once and for all, done on the dash Iirc?
My mirrors used to drive me nuts.

Thanks for the input Guys. I suppose we get too reliant on using all the electronic gizmos on our cars.
After selling the P38 a few years ago, which incidentally had auto dip mirrors that worked, I bought the Freelander and did not miss the feature one bit !!
The feature is not safety critical so disabling the function makes a lot of sense.
I'.m doing fine thanks. Have got the Freelander on Autotrader, not going to give it away as it's running great and without any probelms. All in all it has been a very reliable car

hi mate

at least u won't have to worry with it turned off, lol , does seem a lot of other owners turning them off, some say it's an issue with the seat memory ecu ????

good to hear all is well , had my freelander 7 x years and did me proud , but i got to the stage of it being restrictive with off road ability and space , so went for the D3 , they are indeed very nice , alas need some more looking after but well worth it, was amazed how nice and quiet the D3 was down the motorway , indeed an awesome vehicle

hope the sale of the freelander goes well and as always good to catch up
